I’m guessing pizza is always a favorite at your house? And a go to for busy nights, late nights, no groceries in the house nights, and the general “no one wants to cook” nights?
So when I first saw this idea a couple of years ago on Pinterest, I knew it would be a winner with our family.
Basically, all you need are a couple loaves of garlic toast bread (with the butter and garlic already on it), and your favorite pizza toppings. You can use plain french bread, too…but we love the extra flavor in the garlic toast.
(I mentioned before that my Simple Supper Friday recipes are not always the most healthy right?? :) But oh my, is this a hit with our family. It tastes GREAT, and the kids LOVE getting to put their own toppings on.
Preheat oven to 425
Place on a cookie sheet and top each half of french bread or garlic toast with your toppings
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cheese is melted and middle is warm
Note: If you use frozen garlic toast, you may need to pre-cook it for 3-5 minutes with no toppings on it. We have used several different types of garlic toast and french bread and they all react a little differently!
And, once you master the basic garlic bread pizza, there are a whole world of other types that you can try.
The picture above is Pesto and Tomato French Bread Pizza from Good Cheap Eats…doesn’t it look great?
And here is a recipe for Buffalo Chicken French Bread Pizza from Fervent Foodie…this is always my first choice! And even though I’m the only one who likes buffalo chicken in our house, its easy to customize each pizza when we make it.
The topping possibilities really are endless. Here is a spinach and ham version. Basically, you could just use up what is in your fridge!
